Columbus O’Donnell Iselin II

Iselin was the original owner of Ibis II. Ibis was his girl, his love. She was his toy to race against the other nineteen NY 32 boats. He simultaneously owned schooners that were over one hundred foot long. Six feet four inches in height, straight and slim, with a classic profile and the quick strength of a sailor, Columbus at Harvard seemed like a "young god”. He graduated from Harvard in 1926, received a master's degree in 1928, and was appointed Assistant Curator of Oceanography in the Museum of Comparative Zoology.
